Frequently Asked Questions

Let’s unveil some of the mystery of Howl at the Moon Sauna Co. and sauna in general. If your questions aren’t answered below, take a moment to contact us with questions directly. We’d love to hear from you!

  • We are OPEN and currently taking reservations for Overnight Rentals and Hosted Sauna Events for the 2024 season!

  • We can generally seat 6 adults comfortably. Maybe you can squeeze in one or two more- but only if you really like one another. More than 6 people can use the sauna, but will need to rotate in and out between cycles.

  • Our authentic Finnish wood burning stove gets the sauna up to the ideal sauna bathing temperature of approximately 150-190F. The heat can be adjusted by opening the vents and/or stoking the fire lightly during use.

Worried it will be too hot? Add the cold plunge to your reservation for a quick and refreshing cool down afterwards. Trust us- it feels so good!

  • Ensure you are well hydrated, dressed appropriately in a swimsuit or light cotton clothing if desired. Bring with you a bottle of water, a bathrobe, slip on shoes, a towel to sit on and a towel to dry off with after the cold plunge.

  • A typical sauna session consists of 2-4 “rounds” rotating between the hot sauna and cooling down outside, taking a cold rinse, or plunge. A “round” consists of 5-15 minutes in the sauna (everyone is different, listen to your body. Exit when you are ready), followed by a cold rinse and an equal amount of time cooling down and letting your heart rate and body temperature return to normal before re-entering the sauna for another “round”. End your sauna session with a cold rinse for maximum benefits.

  • Consult with your doctor prior to enjoying the sauna if you have any concerns, especially if you have underlying health conditions.

There is no minimum age for sauna use, but safety is paramount. Children and minors can use saunas, but they should always be supervised since children do not have the same heat tolerance as adults. Infants and toddlers should not use the sauna, even with parental supervision. Children and elderly should and use it in short spurts to avoid overheating and dehydration.

It's essential to prioritize safety and consult a healthcare professional if there are any concerns.

  • The entrance to the sauna changing room has two steps. Both the interior changing room and the sauna hot room are intimate spaces that require participants to have the ability to maintain balance while walking into the sauna and getting onto and off of the benches. If you have limited mobility or any concern about your ability to safely navigate steps, uneven surfaces, or benches without handrails, please reach out to us in advance.

We are always happy to work together to determine if the space is accessible for you and if modifications can be made. Please contact us if you have specific questions.

  • We can deliver our sauna to almost any location with solid level ground and decent roads along the route. We just need enough space to navigate our vehicle and park.

Delivery is included in the rental price within 20 miles of Cannonsburg Ski Area in Rockford, Michigan. Delivery beyond this range is $2.00 per mile. Please contact us to discuss your proposed site and for delivery quote.

Since our high season is in the winter, we ask for your flexibility with delivery and pickup timing as inclement weather and road conditions may impact delivery. We will work with you to determine the best and safest time for delivery.

  • After every rental, our saunas are cleaned with highly effective natural products from top to bottom—no harsh cleaning chemicals required. The sauna reaches up to 200 degrees, which acts as a natural disinfectant too during the post cleaning drying process.
